Savana Urban Spa reviews
Since I'm looking to move to London in the next 12 months I have been exploring the city's neighborhoods and spas to cure my frequent jet lag. I opted for the Ayurvedic massage, since it was highly recommended by the Savana Spa's receptionist. Overall the treatment was relaxing and the staff was very professional. The only thing I could not overcome the "plasticky" feel of the design. I could not stop thinking about the changing facilities at Heathrow Airport. Unfortunately I don't think it's worth swapping the Mandarin Oriental spa for this one.

I had an amazing massage at Savana from therapist Tanya. It was probably the best massage I have ever had, and I've had a lot. The pressure was very deep, but just right to work out my knots and still be surprisingly relaxing! The receptionist was very welcoming and I even had someone show me to the relaxation area. There was no sauna or pool, but I didn't need one as the massage left me quite floaty. I also had a pedicure, which, as a man, I sometimes find a little embarrassing in a 'girly' spa, but the atmosphere and therapist were great and I will definitely go back.

The most relaxing place on earth. I was very stressed out at work all week and from the moment I walked in this all just went away. I think it was a lot down to the personal attention you get. I had the warm ginger rub, which I would highly recommend.

I kind of like their services but the place looks very cold for some reason. If I had to choose between it and Space NK just around the corner, I'd go for Space NK. Different league and very similar prices.

Very uncomfortable facilities. I do not understand why I had to take off my shoes in the reception area!? Very bad first impression. I have been in spas that have changing rooms and private lockers for that purpose, and charge the same amount of money for a massage. This place looks like it's been done on a budget but thinks of itself as a high-end spa with prices to match. Come to think of it, I don't believe it's really a spa at all - a beauty salon more like, since spas are supposed to have at least one hydrotherapy such as bathtub, steam room or a pool.

Overall it wasn't bad but I found the staff to be rather poor. The treatment was fine but I have tried other spas of a similar calibre which were more rewarding and which offered a more pleasant environment.

I had the spa's signature Sea Breeze Body Wrap (90 minutes, £120) with therapist Hayley. It was great to be able to have a shower BEFORE the treatment, as I'm usually hot and bothered at the end of the day from work and going on public transport. As a result, I felt very clean and refreshed in my robe and slippers as I waited in the relaxation area. The treatment itself was wonderful, and Hayley used Savana Spa's own range of natural products, which contain no animal products and are paraben and petrochemical-free. The scrub had a very nice smell and texture, as did the hot seaweed for the actual wrap. During the wrap, I also had a mini-facial, which felt more like a full facial as it lasted for ages, and again all the products smelled and felt amazing on my skin. After the wrap, I showered, then returned to the massage table for an exquisite full body massage using essential oils. My skin felt very moisturised and soft for several days after the treatment, so it's highly recommended.
Apart from the usual treatments, the spa offers a full massage and complementary health menu (reiki, acupuncture, hypnotherapy etc), as well as a couples massage workshop and yoga classes, and they even provide child-minding facilities every Wednesday and Friday between 10-12, so that mums can relax. I'm planning to go back for the 3-hour-long couples massage workshop!
