The Lounge Soho reviews

I visited the salon after reading the positive reviews on this site and was not disappointed. Cyndii did a wonderful job on my highlights and I was pleased that she looked after me for the whole process from colouring, to washing, to blow dry. I also liked the mugshots on the ceiling above the washing stations! As previous reviewers have commented, the atmosphere in the salon was great, very laid-back and friendly. I'll definitely be returning!

I would unhesitatingly recommend this salon. I went on a whim, but will definitely be going again. My stylist (Riley) was lovely, understood exactly what I wanted, and cut my hair beautifully. The salon itself is great - the person who thought it was dated is plainly much trendier than I am, as I thought it was a nice mix of laidback and cool. It has more of a Shoreditch-type vibe than a big West End salon, and plays fantastic music (not cheesy Europop). A fantastic place.

Went and had my hair cut today with Elizabeth and would definitely recommend this place. Had a really great cut and Elizabeth was really nice too!

I've been looking for a while for a hairdresser who could just do something different with my very thick hair without too much direction. I am so happy to have found Liga at The Lounge Soho.

Based mainly on reviews from this site, I booked a cut online and the whole experience was a pleasure. If you're tired of the cloned 'all-dressed-in-black' hairdressers of the high street chains, then this is a breath of fresh air. There didn't appear to be any bullshit and everyone was very friendly.

I will certainly be going back and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

After a few days of research and many a phone call, I decided to try this salon as reception seemed the friendliest and the reviews here looked positive.

I thought the overall experience was one of the best I have had in recent years at a salon in the West End (a few of which also appear on here). The main thing was I did not feel like I was out of place and everyone was very nice. I felt well looked after throughout, and although I did not have anything drastic done to my hair the consultation was thorough and the result was what I expected. Liked the massage chairs and the free booze! Will be visiting again, maybe being braver next time.

I really hate to call foul play, but I honestly think a staff member has written at least some of the reviews. I went and had my hair cut by Joe Mills. The staff were indeed very friendly, Joe Mills is indeed lovely, approachable and chatty, and I did indeed get a glass of wine. Unfortunately, I got no massage chair or head massage (my hair wash can't have lasted more than 3 minutes), the decor is dated (not that I would remotely care if the cut was good), and the haircut was distinctly rushed. The result? An average, £60, 'Jennifer-Aniston-Circa-Friends' cut. I said immediately that I wasn't happy with it, but he explained it away, and said if I still wasn't happy in a week, for me to contact him and he'd touch it up for free.

I emailed a week later, and also enquired about getting a (paid) colour. Absolutely no response. Rather than bother stressing myself out, I've just decided to go elsewhere.

I was really disappointed and I hate writing bad reviews, but for so much money I feel like people should know that not everyone comes away with that new-hair-high.

I took a chance and went to this salon last weekend. It was great! Am so pleased I did, as all the staff were really friendly and attentive and always professional.

Cyndii did my colour after a thorough consultation and the result was fantastic! After advising me against an all-over bleach, as my hair is too long and damaged, she suggested an alternative that would give the same effect.

During my highlighting session the junior staff were fantastic - constantly supplying me with magazines and drinks.

Next I moved on to the cut with Emma. She was lovely and explained everything she was doing step by step.

I was really happy with the end result and will definitely return when I have saved up my pennies!

Hallelujah. I think I’m onto something here. In fact I know I am. Finally, a place which doesn’t pretend to be cool, it just is. The staff don’t seem to have jumped out of the wrong side of bed, they don’t seem rushed nor pretentious, yet there’s never that uncertainty or doubt that your hair could end up any bit less than you had hoped for. All in all, I don’t think you could find a better salon here in London.

Led by the incredibly charming Joe Mills, The Lounge offers far more than a haircut; have a beer, put your feet up, listen to some ('where did you get that from?') music, relax, have a massage and a friendly chat while you’re at it and come out feeling new, shiny and rejuvenated. It’s more like getting your best friend, who happens to be one of the best hair stylists around, to fix your hair. You honestly couldn’t ask for more.

I have been going here regularly for nearly a year (Emma cuts my hair) and I love this place. Massage chairs, cool music, lovely stylist who is more like a friend than someone cutting my hair, really nice atmosphere and not too scary if you like the idea of being cool but are a bit of a nerd deep down like me! If you are a bit more adventurous, go for a colour and cut with Liga (I do my own colour as I'm a bit too vanilla for Liga, but she's great).

A couple of months ago I needed to find a new salon and finding a good one that you trust to do a decent job can sometimes prove very difficult. I decided to use Urban Path to help me choose. Based on the reviews, I booked in for a cut and blow dry with Joe Mills at The Lounge. All I can say is that Joe and all the staff at The Lounge are consummate professionals and they made the entire experience wonderful, friendly and relaxing from start to finish. The back washes are fitted with massagers and you can even have a wine or beer instead of tea or coffee should the fancy take you. Joe is very interesting and easy to talk to and understood exactly what I wanted. I was extremely happy with my cut and the cost was so reasonable, considering the location of the salon and the fact that Joe is the owner.

A couple of months later and I have visited again, this time to see Jolene. I asked her to strip years of old colour build-up from my hair (which was almost black) and effectively start again so I could have lighter hair with highlights. The result is fantastic and my hair looks and feels great. Jolene very obviously loves her job and once again I came away very happy.

Thanks guys, I’ll be back!

From a guy's perspective, this salon is a great find. Central, friendly, with hairdressers that will give you a current cut, not just a number 3 all over. A consultation, shampoo, massage, cut, rinse, beer and a wet face towel to wipe the hair each time, it is the kind of service (for a little above average price) I like. Although cheaper, my barbershop days are gone and even my girlfriend's local chain salon does not compare. The Lounge really know what a male client needs and delivers a top experience all round.

The staff here definitely know their stuff, and ditto the review below about Jolene the colourist. Most people tend to get tired and irritated near the end of the day and let it show, but she was really good and friendly and made sure she understood what you wanted and knew what would look good. Had T-section done - a bit pricey for only a couple of slices, but I think it was worth it.

Have been there twice now. Last time it was a bit packed and their time management a bit poor. Customers kept on getting moved about or had to be kept waiting, even though you were told to turn up early!

I've tried out quite a few salons in London since moving here last year and have to say Jolene at The Lounge is a true find!

The salon is cool but not pretentious. The staff are all lovely and very friendly - you don't feel intimidated at all (as you sometimes are made to feel at hair salons!)

I love the way Jolene really listens carefully to what you want and then comes up with a solution with you for the best way to go about this. You don't feel like you are being pushed through quickly so they can move onto the next client. A lot of care and thought seems to be put into the colour too, but she still works at a speedy pace and I am always happy with the results.

She recommends ways I can prolong the colour, cut and condition of my hair so that I can maintain it at home but also cut down on the number of colouring appointments I need (which has to be a good thing!). And even if I don't have a pro blowdry booked in, she does such a great job with the 'rough dry' that I can at least see the final colour result.

The massage chairs are out of this world and the shampoo and conditioning treatment don't feel rushed. The complimentary coffee/tea/wine and super-yummy biscuit offerings are really just the icing on the cake to a great service - but are important mentions too! They also offer a menu selection for the little cafe next door and will pop by to pick up your food while you're being pampered.

While not the cheapest prices by any means, I think The Lounge is still very reasonable and 'cheap' in comparison to some high-end salons in London which give only a fraction of the result you get here. Although not quite 5/5 (I'm still waiting to find my dream salon where I walk out with dream salon hair!), I would highly recommend, as this has been my pick of the bunch so far!!

I visited The Lounge last week and wanted to say how I found the whole experience fantastic! I had highlights with a new stylist and he did exactly what I asked for; the cut also was just as asked, which is very important (I can't stand it when they do their own thing!). But I also loved the luxuary items - everything from the massage hair wash chairs to the homemade biscuits with a cup of Earl Grey tea - which made all the diffence, as I only get this time out of life once every 6 weeks. I look forward to my next visit.

The best hairdressers in London... bar none!

Absolutely the one and only place to have your hair cut and coloured in London. This is a laid-back but hip place to relax in. You don't feel intimidated by overly cool people who are more interested in looking at themselves in the mirror. Yes, they have a fabulous range of drinks and really good music but, most importantly, The Lounge only hires the very best (and your hair is the real reason for going to the hairdressers, after all).

They have really really high standards. I have been in when a stylist was being 'tested' for a week on his work, before even being offered a job - scary! The best thing is that they all take pride in treating each client as an individual and their priority is helping you to get exactly what you want from your hair. This is not just because that's the policy either - every time I have looked around in there, the stylists are really listening to the client in front of them.

Joe Mills is the best cutter I have ever had the privilege to meet and I have had my hair cut in many places around the globe. Never again though - I will only ever let Joe cut my hair these days. It's not just me, every single person I have recommended to go there comes away with the same resolution: "This is my hairdresser for life".

Booked in based on the great reviews here and their website press but before I saw the bad review. Not sure I would have gone if I had, but thank god no horror cut to report! Quite the opposite in fact, a superb modern bob. Great music and massage. The Saturday I visited was very busy, and it's quite a small salon, so avoid weekends if you prefer less commotion.

A fantastic salon, which offers the latest cuts without being OTT. My cut is fantastic, and Jolene who cut my hair was superb. She talked me through every element of what she was doing and, importantly, told me how to maintain the excellent and super-cool look she gave me.

Very good all round, one star missing as the stylist was running late but to be fair this was probably due to the previous fussy client! My cut was very now (new fringe) and friends have been very envious (two have now booked in). Would recommend the salon for the drinks, atmosphere and on-trend styles. But although the location is central it's not that easy to find.

I got probably the worst haircut in the past 15 years, part of me wanted to cry and part of me just hysterically laughed. I'd had many bad scarecuts, but this one is an exception! 4 inch of my hair is somewhere in the bin, 50 quid in their till and I am sporting a ponytail from now on. the only star is for the glass of wine I had.
