Nicky Clarke reviews
Had my colour done by Ami and cut with Nicky. Nicky instantly told me where I'd been going wrong with my hair for all these years and showed me how to manage my new style. I was so impressed that I had my second appointment with them yesterday. Everyone, from reception to the guy that brings you tea and Nicky himself, makes you feel extremely welcome and puts you at ease. I've never loved my hair so much. Highly recommended, and a big 'thankyou' to Ami and Nicky!

Originally visited the salon to see Nicky himself. He was running late, but I understand he has a busy schedule. I was taken care of by the staff and had a lovely coffee while I waited. When Nicky arrived, we had a good chat about my hair and even sketched my style. The end result was fabulous.
The only thing is, I can't afford this every 6 weeks! So Nicky suggested Craig, who he trained and was his assistant in the past, and who is a lot more affordable for me. Nicky has done a great job with him - they even explained things in the same clear way. The outcome was again fabulous, and at a great price in a great salon!

My mum and I visited the salon yesterday and were both really impressed by the friendly staff. We would recommend Carl for colour and Lewis for a cut - both give you 100% attention. My mum had a re-style and is thrilled with the result! Will definitely go again.

I was given an appointment to see Nicky Clarke, which I was grateful for as I know he is very busy. Unfortunately I could not go as I had to go into hospital, but the receptionists helping me on the phone were very nice, helpful, quick at sorting it all out, with kind words from Nicky too. No bad management to my ears, and if they were busy, well, it showed if anthing that they are doing it right. As soon as I am well I will make another appointment. With thanks to them all.

A horrible experience. Appalling hair cut - the stylist was more interested in waving to other clients he knew. The price was extortionate for a hairdresser that couldn't even cut basic layers. A total disaster. Never ever returning.

I recently went to the Nicky Clarke salon to have a re-style. Unfortunately, the stylist I had been recommended by the reception team seemed to have a hangover, so told me everything I wanted would not suit me and gave me a trim. I actually preferred my hair before he had touched it. Real waste of £60.

I went to see Matthew after a recommendation from my friend who has been a client of his for 7 years and has never looked back. I'm pleased to say I came out feeling a million dollars and I've never had a stylist spend so much time and care on a hair cut before. I will recommend Matthew from now on to all of my friends and family. Thank you very much Matthew.

Went to the salon and had my hair done by Craig. Overall okay, but not very creative. The juniors don't look happy, which concerns me as they are all so young! I hope they get treated properly. The reception looked rushed off their feet and kept answering the phones and were actually a bit rude. Poor management probably.

Had an appointment with Nicky Clarke, which the salon cancelled as Nicky was 'out of the country' that day (the appointment was made 3 months in advance!). They gave me another appointment, which they have just rung and cancelled again because Nicky is once again 'not in the country'. Obviously this is totally unacceptable. My visit to the salon will cost £795! They have now offered for me to have my hair done by Rupert (supposedly Nicky's second-in-command) for free and for me to pay for the colour and consultation.

I had my hair done there recently and it was amazing. Nicky Clarke is great, as are his salon and staff. I'm returning at the end of this month and would recommend it to anyone.

What a sham. Nicky Clarke never turned up for our appointment. The staff all said this was normal for him, and offered me a bag of his products. I find this insulting as I had travelled 4 hours to get to the salon. The worst service I have ever experienced. My advice would be to avoid it like the plague.

I visited the salon again yesterday. I've started to become one of Craig's regulars. I hear he does Lesley Clarke's hair (Nicky's ex), so he must be good.
Fab salon, definitely worth going. The juniors are great, although some are a bit young. Whilst they charge for food and drink, I must say the meal I had was exquisite and much cheaper than any restaurant in the area. Stylist-wise, I'd recommend either Craig (who's £75, affordable) or Joseph or Lewis (both £120-£130). I've not seen Nicky, he's just too expensive.

My expectations were too high probably when I walked into this salon. The atmosphere was OK, and the haircut too (quite classic, not very creative). But this is the problem: it's just average. Why pay a premium for average service and an average haircut? Would not recommend.

I appreciate that, in his day, the guy was fantastic, but (with all due respect) I found Nicky's styling very out-dated. This is certainly a place for the more mature client these days (which is fine) but I think if he wants to be seen as cutting edge, it's probably about time he threw in the towel.
He was very pleasant to deal with but didn't seem particularly confident and appeared out of his depth. To give him his credit, perhaps he's now more of a hairdressing institution rather than someone who you'd seriously want to cut your hair.

I had my hair cut recently this year and I am going back next month! The staff are friendly and kind and the stylist I had, Lewis, is amazing. He cut my hair to match exactly the photo I had taken in, and he was very genuine. I would say to those peple who have written poor reports for this salon, if they are expecting the outcome of a cut by Nicky himself, then maybe they should consider not settling for a junior stylist just to get a lower price.

After hearing this stylist is the next best thing to Nicky Clarke himself, I was recommended by a friend to book an appointment with Matthew for a cut and blow dry. I was very nervous at first; however, Matthew really took the time to talk with me and discuss my hair. He really is the next best thing to Nicky. I love my hair and will definitely be going back. He's changed my life. The only set-back was being charged for a coffee.

If you get a good stylist you get a really good one, but if not heaven help you! Unfortunately my usual stylist was unavailable, so I had the misfortune to book with Rupert. I was not impressed - he spent most of the time talking to other clients/staff and waving to people he knew walking past the window. The cut was okay (but certainly not worth the £200 price tag) but when I washed it at home I realised it was noticeably longer one side than the other! I returned the following week, when he re-cut it; but apart from a weak apology (this is the first time I have had to re-cut in 25 years!), not even an offer to refund my rail fare! Never again.

Went to have my hair cut for a second time by Nicky today, plus had colour. I waited 11 weeks for the appointment. He kept me waiting two hours the previous time (but the cut was fab). I was told this was abnormal, so hoped for the best today.
Well actually, after a great colour with Carl (although £350 is a bit steep!) Nicky didn't even turn up. I waited over two hours and then the lovely Gemma cut my hair. I felt really let down and didn't even feel like talking when Gemma cut my hair. She did a good job, but the edge had totally been taken off my visit and I had so been looking forward to Nicky cutting my hair again. I actually felt a bit of a pratt having had to wait so long. The staff were very friendly though, and gave me free drinks and free products to soften the blow, but it was not quite what I'd had in mind.

Yes, it's true that Nicky is always running late, but regulars just seem to factor that one in. A cut with Nicky is like nobody else. He listens very well, draws a sketch sometimes to illustrate what he is planning and talks you through your hair's capabilities. I left feeling like a million dollars and ready for the Red Carpet. The salon is in the heart of Mayfair so, yes, it's expensive. I suppose some of the staff could be a bit more disciplined, but overall the place has a buzz and feels 'quality' in my book. Try it - you'll love it. Don't do the £500 haircut deal though, because you can usually get a regular appointment with Nicky for his 'normal' price. The other staff are just regular West End prices.
