Booked in my wife as a Christmas gift. She was thrilled: her hair was transformed with a treatment called Biolustre and fantastic cut. The salon even offered free coffee and biscuits, a refreshing change! She will definitely be returning.

A friend had recommended Michaeljohn to me for a cut. I had a cut with a senior stylist called Shaz. He was fantastic. Love my hair and will be returning soon. It's expensive but worth it. Highly recommend.

Fab salon, lovely atmosphere. I had my hair cut with a senior stylist there called Shaz. He was so friendly and a true artist at what he does. He made me look like a million dollars. Going back soon. Highly recommend.

MJ was suggested to me by Brown's Hotel. I had just got off a nightmare flight from NYC and they fitted me in for an environ-facial. My skin has glowed for weeks! I also got my hair blow dried by a lovely French man who was very friendly.

What a lovely experience. Now I understand why they are not the cheapest and why everybody talks so highly of them. AV worked his talent on my hair and I came out like a new man!

I had my hair cut at this salon for several years by a wonderful stylist. I was always pleased with my cut, but had some of the worst hair washes I've ever had there. There was no feeling of being pampered, just a quick wash by staff who didn't seem interested. I could never understand, either, why the salon didn't realise what bad PR it is to charge your clients for a cup of coffee.

The final straw came when I phoned to book an appointment with my regular stylist, to be told curtly that she'd left. They were unwilling to pass on any contact details so that I could contact her to say goodbye or wish her well (there was no competition for the salon - she'd left to live abroad). Their unhelpful attitude has ensured that, having been a loyal customer for several years, I won't be going back.

I recently went to this salon for highlights. When I arrived I was informed that my stylist was running late and would I like a cup of tea while I waited. I said yes please. When it came to settling my bill, I discovered that the salon had charged me £2.50 for this cup of tea. How can they justify this? Like other reviewers have pointed out, £2.50 is more expensive than Starbucks. A total rip-off.

I was not at all satisfied with my colour either. I wanted brunette, they put loads of blonde in. And bear in mind that these highlights cost three times as much as my usual salon charges. Michaeljohn is just ridiculously expensive and not worth it. I would not recommend.

I had hair extensions put in and was looking for a good haircut to make it look more natural. I decided on this salon and am so, so glad I did as the haircut was amazing. I went to Shai, who is an absolute artist with hair. It's quite expensive but if you are fussy about your hair like me I think it is well worth it.

I came to the salon as I had been having colour that I had become increasingly unhappy with and chose Michaeljohn since it is local to my office. I am thrilled with my new colour and will return, but the blowdry, which was good too, cost almost as much as the tint. I would not pay the same again, but would also not want to leave with wet hair. I think the charge for this is ridiculous for 20 minutes' work.

Had some lunch just to get rid of the man that repeatedly pestered me to eat something. I ended up being charged £15 for an average sandwich, coffee and a small bottle of Evian. Ridiculous! How can a salon of this standard justify this? It's a total rip off. Most salons offer free beverages, and include a great menu with fruit smoothies, paninis etc. This salon doesn't even have a price list, so you can't be pre-warned about the dreadful prices. How can a cheap digestive biscuit be 'from' £1.00? Is it a pound or isn't it??

I had a Biolustre and it made my hair look fantastic. Let's just say that my husband spent most of the night running his hand through it!

I went to have an overhaul and came out very happy, but £12 for a sandwich and a small bottle of water is an absolute joke.

Very good service but the place was a bit of a mess.

The salon was OK, although so busy it was all a bit of a mess. The price was reasonable and I loved what I had done with my hair. However, a word of warning - do not eat or drink anything. It was SO expensive, I could have eaten at a top Mayfair restaurant much cheaper, and nicer. What a rip off! I can't understand how they can justify charging £3 for coffee. Next time, I'll go to Starbucks on the way (which I noticed other people had done).

I recommend Toni the Colour Tech, she has transformed me from boring to beautiful. Expensive but I have paid more elsewhere. Well worth a visit, booking again soon.

I had my hair ruined by some hairdressers in the City, where I work. A friend of mine told me to go to Michaeljohn to Andre. He did a fabulous job, right now I love my hair for the first time in year. He gave me a great color, and a fabulous cut which is still good even now after 7 weeks.

A comment to an earlier reviewer. Of course you get offered food and drink, it's not free! Their takings are up if you say 'yes'. An excellent salon, I would recommend it.

Had to pay £3 for a cup of tea. Stylist was running late and had to sit with wet hair. Will not be using that salon again.

Brilliant salon. Was going from long blonde hair to short dark (i.e. cutting off damaged hair and going back to 'natural' colour). They were fantastic about everything. Staff were amazing - loved them. Expensive I know, but not as much as I thought it would be.
