Being an old-fashioned sort of girl, I tend to judge hairdressers on their mastery of the seemingly vanishing art of setting hair on rollers, as I prefer this process to having my hair wrenched about by an over-enthusiastic stylist with a hand dryer and round brush.
The receptionist recommended Mark to me, and I was very satisfied with the result (you can always tell someone who knows what they're doing with setting by the tension they maintain on the hair while winding the rollers). Thanks Mark - I wish that there were more stylists as competent as you around.

Fantastic haircut, fantastic place. Kane is a genius and Andrew is lovely. Got the best head massage, and the manageress has two dachshunds which she lets you pet! Will go back again and again.

I loved going to this salon. The staff were very friendly, and I was immediately offered a beverage and biscuit. The products in the JLife hair care line are amazing, and I love the style that I got from Helene. As an American student in London, I also liked the student discount and the text-message reminder for my appointment. I just wish that Andrew Jose had a salon in the United States!

Would never ever go back to this salon! My haircut is a disaster. I think the hairdresser didn't understand what I was asking for (she was new). Not recommended.

DO NOT go to this salon. The manager was extremely rude to me when I asked why I had been charged twice as much for a cut and blow dry by the same hairdresser as my friend was charged on the same day. Am appalled.

I don't think it's awfully friendly or welcoming, considering the cost, and the manageress is the most miserable sourpuss you could ever wish to meet! A smile costs nothing...

This must be the worst salon ever! I had my hair cut and coloured three weeks ago. The haircut was a disaster and the stylist would not listen to me when I complained. She did such a terrible job that another stylist had to come and fix it. Well, it could not be fixed and I walked out crying. I got home and realized it was worse than I'd imagined. The colour was patchy and looked orange. I called the manager to complain and was told they'd call back.
They never did call back, so I went again today to talk to them. I got more attitude from them, when I am the victim of their mistake! Oh, but it gets better... They gave me a cheque and the second stylist who tried to fix my hair even came to say sorry (he was probably embarrassed for their behaviour), but one hour later they called to say they'd changed their minds and have cancelled the cheque!! It's not the £92 that I can't bear to lose, it's a matter of principle!

Initial thoughts upon arrival were that the salon seemed friendly and not overly pretentious like other London-based salons. The only negative was the girl who washed my hair - she was really rough and it was probably the worst hair wash I have ever had. However, that was soon forgotten once Shar started work on my hair. I was having a lot cut off and he put my mind at rest and did a really good job. He added lots of volume and bounce to a previously flat and dull style and finished it with a fantastic blow dry. Would definitely go there again. Thanks Shar.

Really impressed with the cut I got there a couple of weeks ago from one of the more junior stylists. I have thick, frizzy hair which she transformed into a sleek bob, and she didn't use tonnes of products. Going there for highlights soon and praying they're as good as the cut!

Nice experience here. Went in for a tidy up ahead of an evening function, and my stylist unilaterally decided on a shampoo and set, of all things. Within minutes I was gowned up, shampooed, and having big Velcro rollers applied amid much sexy French chit-chat. A pleasant 40 minutes under the dryer, and he was back to comb me out into big, bouncy curls. Looked great, great idea.

After years of going to hairdressers who have not listened to my ideas or requests, it was a breath of fresh air to go to this salon. I came out with a fabulous haircut, a great new colour and my faith in hairdressers restored. The staff were friendly and courteous and I cannot fault the place at all. Keep up the good work!

Hmm, not great. My stylist was lovely but I got a decidedly average haircut. OK, not a complete disaster, might be alright after I style it myself, but I believe you should walk out of a salon feeling your hair looks fantastic...and it doesn't. I showed a picture with exactly the style I wanted, and no, I wasn't asking the impossible - it was a photo of me with a style I had a few years ago, so I know my hair can look like that! Not totally the stylist's fault - I hadn't been before and when I booked I asked for one of their most senior stylists; it was only when I paid at the end that I realised I'd got someone less senior. So at least it didn't cost as much as I expected, but I'll be going back to John Frieda next time.

The website is awful, I know. But I've been going there for a few years now, and most of the time I've had brilliant haircuts from nice, intelligent staff. My favourite stylist left last year, but Kane is a master of the scissors. He even manages to make my husband look less bald.

My goodness. I have never even been to the salon but it seemed interesting so I tried to use the website... failed miserably. Doesn't even list the prices or anything. I'm sure the salon is good but the website is a disaster!
